“Girl’s Guide to becoming Asian American” is a zine that combines collage, poetry, and prose. For a while, it was just my journal, until I decided to make it its own thing. It consists of about 30 full-color pages of multilayered images created from magazine cutouts, artist’s paper, typewritten snippets, drawings done in pen, and handwritten text. Its overarching themes include desire, diaspora angst, aliveness, and death, in that order.
