The Small Press Expo was created to promote artists and publishers who produce independent comics. SPX hosts an annual festival that provides a forum for artists, writers and publishers of comic art in its various forms to present to the public comic art not accessible through normal commercial channels.

To provide all participants – members and other attendees, speakers, exhibitors, staff and volunteers – the opportunity to benefit from the festival and SPX’s other activities, SPX is committed to providing a safe, harassment-free environment for everyone, regardless of race, creed, color, sex, gender, sexual orientation, physical appearance, age, national origin, disability, pregnancy, veteran status, or any other basis protected by applicable federal or state laws or other group identity.

Harassment can include, but is not limited to;

  • Making unwanted and/or discriminatory advances
  • Intimidation
  • Stalking
  • Harassing photography or recording
  • Sustained disruption of events
  • Inappropriate physical contact
  • Unwelcomed sexual attention
  • Verbal or physical conduct of a discriminatory nature
  • Creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment by engaging in such conduct

If you feel you are being harassed or witness harassment and it is an emergency, you should contact the local authorities (i.e., call 911).

If you feel you are being harassed and witness someone else being harassed or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the SPX staff immediately.

We have also provided this online incident reporting form for your use.

No individual shall be intimidated, threatened, coerced, or discriminated against for filing a complaint, furnishing information, or for participating in any manner in an investigation or any other activity related to the administration of the laws and regulations and/or this policy to ensure the appropriate treatment of all who come to SPX.

SPX has sole discretion in determining what constitutes harassment under this policy and reserves the right to take immediate action against anyone who violates this policy, up to and including expulsion from SPX (with no refund) and refusal to allow admission to future SPX festivals.

All Attendees, Exhibitors, Sponsors, Associates, and Guests of SPX are subject to this policy.
