THE LONGEST WICKEDEST WALK

“And there in the blue air I saw for the first time, far off, the great snowy tops of the Rocky Mountains. I had to get to Denver at once.” – Jack Kerouac, ON THE ROAD

Since 2021, cartoonist Karl Christian Krumpholz (QUEEN CITY, IN THE CITY) has been illustrating comic features for Denver’s WESTWORD newspaper about walking and wandering through the streets of the city to observe and document all the urban life he saw. Areas like 16th Street, Broadway, Larimer Street, Brighton Boulevard, and Colfax Avenue (often referred to as ‘the longest wickedest street in America’.) Even creating additional comics diving into the history of Cheesman Park, Union Station, Civic Center, and Casa Bonita.

This is a collection of those WESTWORD comics and cover illustrations done for the newspaper between 2021 and 2026.

8.5″x11″, 40 pages, saddle-stitched. $18.00
