During the pandemic we were one of the 23 million families to welcome a pet into our home. We both grew up with dogs and longed to bring one back into our lives. There was talk about training and adventures, teaching a dog how to surf, epic road trips and having the smartest dog on the block.
Then we were ambushed. Duped. Bamboozled by our friends! We were talked into bringing a stray kitten home instead. “Just try it out for a few days,” we were told. “Give it a shot,” they said. “If you don’t want to keep her, we can always bring her to the shelter,” they promised. But they knew exactly what they were doing.
